Accomplice of Ecuadorian adventures, based in Quito

Ecuador is a country where you can shift between completely different worlds in just a few hours. It's this constant diversity—between volcanoes, forests, villages, and encounters—that still fascinates me today.

Carole

Based in Quito for over twenty years with Beto, Carole has made Équateur her adopted country and a place of daily discovery. Passionate about travel and adventure sports, they regularly explore the country as a family, always curious to discover new regions, from Andean villages to the wilder roads of the Amazon and Pacific coast. Within Aventure Ecuador, Carole guides travelers through every step of their trip preparation with very personal attention to communication, follow-up, and the quality of their on-the-ground experience. Close to her clients, she loves building smooth and balanced journeys, tailored to each person's wishes, whether it's nature, hiking, culture, or adventure. Her perspective on Équateur blends field experience, organizational skills, and genuine attachment to this country with spectacular landscapes and surprising diversity.

Everything you need to know about Ecuador

Our local experts share their knowledge to prepare your trip.

When to visit Ecuador?

Ecuador can be explored year-round, but each region has its own rhythm. In the Andes, around Quito, Cotopaxi, or Chimborazo, the dry season from June to September offers the best conditions for trekking and climbing, with clear mornings over the volcanoes. From December to May, the páramo landscapes turn green, ideal for those who love changing light and late afternoon showers. In the Amazon, it rains somewhat throughout the year; the months of November to February remain the most pleasant. On the Pacific coast, January to April is preferred for swimming. In the Galápagos, June-September attracts marine wildlife enthusiasts, while December-May appeals with warmer waters.

What budget to plan for a trip to Ecuador?

Ecuador remains one of South America's most accessible destinations, though it's far from budget-friendly once you venture off the beaten path. For a two-week itinerary combining the Andes, Amazon, and coast, expect between €2,500 and €3,500 per person excluding international flights, with charming accommodations and English-speaking guides. Adding the Galápagos significantly changes the equation: a cruise or island stay pushes the budget to €4,500–6,000 due to island logistics costs and national park fees. Technical climbs (Cotopaxi, Chimborazo) require specialized guidance, so a dedicated budget. We always adjust quotes based on actual duration, desired comfort level, and program intensity.

Why organize your trip with a local agency in Ecuador?

Preparing a trip to Ecuador from abroad means missing out on everything that makes a well-crafted itinerary truly valuable: deep knowledge of Andean roads, weather windows for volcano viewing, Amazon lodges that actually deliver on their promises. Based in the Los Chillos valley since 2001, we work directly with our English-speaking guides and on-the-ground partners, with no intermediaries. This makes a difference in the precision of our advice, our responsiveness when unexpected situations arise (and they do, both at altitude and in the Amazon), and fair pricing for all services. It's also what allows us to build trips that truly reflect who you are, rather than recycling a standard itinerary from one agency to another.

What to see on a trip through Ecuador?

Quito, with its colonial historic centre listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, almost always opens the journey. From there, the Avenue of Volcanoes unfolds its giants: Cotopaxi, Antisana, Chimborazo, with stops at haciendas or mountain lodges. Otavalo market, Quilotoa and Cuicocha lagoons, Kichwa villages in the Cañar region tell another story of Équateur, Andean and mestizo. Towards the east, the Amazon is discovered from the Napo or Pastaza rivers, by lodge, meeting communities and dense biodiversity. Further south, Cuenca seduces with its Andalusian urban planning and Cajas National Park. And of course, the Galápagos remain a world apart, to be experienced by cruise or island-hopping, at your own pace.
